It's funny. Whenever I get a book going that completely takes over my imagination, I have an otherworldly urge to make cookies. Then, I have a pile of fresh baked sweetness and a glass of milk or a hot cup of tea ... and I devour words and cookies!
White chocolate chip with hazelnuts cookies ... and Chris Bojahlian's The Night Strangers made for a spooky and sweet read .
This post is a fun Saturday ritual! It is linked at a fun photoshare on Alyce's blog, at home with books. Stop in to see what the other participants have posted. There are so many fun and thought-provoking photos and more than a bit of great writing too!
Reading and food are two of my favorite passions - so much so that I have decided to leave off posting my Saturday Snapshot posts on The Spice Garden and begin blogging and posting them here at a new literature and creative writing- centered blog.
So welcome to Buch Handling! Come back now and then to visit!
Sounds like a very tasty tradition! My reading doesn't usually impact my reading, although it probably should--any time I read about a food in a book, it sounds so much better than real-life food. Even if it wasn't meant to be appetizing! I read a book where kids were eating burned cranberry muffins, and it still made me want cranberry muffins. Something about seeing it in print just gets me...
ReplyDeleteThose look so incredibly yummy. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would have had a hard time not eating the whole batch! I'm kind of compulsive like that...which is probably why I don't bake. lol
ReplyDeleteI love those photos of your reading rituals...I probably would just grab a handful of wheat thins and a glass of red wine. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Cookies and books! Nothing could be better :) I'm just discovering your blog now and see that you are a newcomer to our fun and vibrant book-blogging community. Welcome! I'm also half German and married to a German so . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a life!
ReplyDeleteOh oh. Now I feel the urge to run out to the kitchen to bake some pumpkin date bread!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! Usually when I'm that immersed in a book I grab the nearest snack at hand. :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to eat popcorn when I read but those cookies look delicious. I love the cookie jar too!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm! White chocolate chip cookies! I like to munch on sunflower seeds when I read...but occasionally I get a sweet tooth and have to have cookies. These would work very nicely when that happens.....
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot: http://myreadersblock.blogspot.com/2012/04/saturday-snapshot-april-28.html
Oh, the cookies sound fabulous - but what I like best is that beautiful cookie jar!
ReplyDeleteS0 yummy! I would have eaten the whole batch.
ReplyDeleteThat's a situation where I couldn't eat just one. Good books as well.
