Waiting , waiting, waiting ... and then, you plan a baby shower. You watch all manner of sweet smelling, soft, sigh-inspiring gifts as they are opened. You eat sweet, soft cake and laugh over potential baby names. You help pack up all the presents and ribbons and hoop-la, so they can be taken home to feather the nursery nest. And then, you wait.
Watching someone who is so wanting a baby to arrive is such an emotional rollercoaster, isn't it? For me, Tonia's pregnancy brought back memories of my own times waiting. Last week, several weeks after Tonia and Mike welcomed their new son, Levi, I visited for the first time and was so happy to get to know Levi just a bit.
Holding a newborn will certainly 'take you back' ... sniff, sniff. One thing that came back right a way was 'the mommy shuffle'. You know what I mean, right? I swayed back and forth for a solid hour and contentedly held the little man close while he snoozed, and groaned, and snored a bit, and worked a bubble from one end of him to the other. Still, he slept on and then it was time for us to head home. Sigh.
Next time we visit, I'm hoping he wakes up long enough for me to talk with him a bit. I guess I'll have to wait ...

Such great pictures, thank you for sharing! That cake looks like it was amazing... And there's nothing like holding a sleeping baby. I miss the days when my daughter would fall asleep on me.
ReplyDeleteNothing as sweet as a sleeping baby :) My boys are all grown now so I'm patiently waiting for the day when I can hold a grandchild. I'm sure there will be some mommy sniffles then too - I'm sentimental like that ;)
ReplyDeleteAh, the sweetness of a new baby! Makes all that waiting worth it!
ReplyDeleteLove the cake, too.
Like your description of the "mommy shuffle."
Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
Levi is gorgeous. I do a mummy shuffle too.

ReplyDeleteWhat a precious picture with a very handsome baby boy. So sweet. And, yes, I do recall the Mommy Shuffle. Amazing how one just naturally falls back into it when holding a baby. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteVery, very sweet! Your photo made me want to rub her belly (very rude, I know!) and eat some of that yummy looking cake. Enjoy the waiting game - I love your font by the way.

What and adorable baby! I remember how fun it was to sort, wash and store all of the new baby clothing while waiting for my first son to arrive. Ah for the times when all of his laundry fit in one load! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture of him sleeping. He's adorable.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot
Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the excitement and pride. We have 5 grandchildren.
He sleeps so sweetly as if an angel is playing with him.
