During strawberry season, people go a bit wacky. There are all manner of cheesecakes and pies, shortcakes and smoothies, salads and salsas littering the food blogs on the Web ... when all you need is a pretty bowl, a knife, and a quart of berries ... simple and so wonderful.
I'll be making jam with the berries that we will pick this afternoon and in the middle of the winter, we'll parcel out the last jars and think about this sunny day and the soft buzz of bugs and chirp of birds as we made our way down the rows picking strawberries.
I hope you get a chance to get a batch of berries, too!
Now, I wonder what others are posting for their Saturday Snapshot offerings! I'll meet you athomewithbooks ! Let's take a look!
Those look delicious. Our strawberry season came in mid-May this year, at least a couple of weeks early. We're lucky to have a small berry patch out back.
ReplyDeleteHere's Mine
This looks so good. Someone else on Saturday Snapshot made me put strawberries on to my shopping list, and now I'm even more tempted.
ReplyDeleteBerries are possibly my favorite thing about summer... These look gorgeous, and make me want to eat strawberries!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI live in So Cal, and we get fresh strawberries all the time :) Your picture makes me want to run out right now and get some, they look delicious! Book Savvy Babe
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be busy this weekend making good use of these beautiful and delicious looking strawberries. Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteThose look delicious!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Saturday Snapshot post!
They look wonderful. You've obviously had better weather than we've had here - the only things flourishing in the rain and mud are snails and weeds! My Snapshot links back to Saxon times and a feisty queen who marched in to battle at the head of her army http://goo.gl/vTUc8
ReplyDeleteI live in Southern California like book savvy babe. But I think Spring is still fresh strawberry season - we have a huge strawberry festival in Oxnard, California which thousands of people flock to every year.
ReplyDeleteYes, strawberries! I posted about our fresh-picked bunch too. They are delicious right out of the basket, aren't they? Mmmm :)
ReplyDeleteWe just ate a quart of these fresh beauties today. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteThe second blog post about strawberries! You are making me hungry (and I just had dinner...). Love fresh strawberries!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snapshot.
I love those little punnet baskets you get there, they make the fruit look even more delicious.
ReplyDeleteI don't know of any you pick berry places near us, but going to pick berries is a wonderful childhood memory of mine. Of course, I ate more berries than I put in my basket, but it was so much fun and the berries tasted better out in the field.
ReplyDeletemouth watering image :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been so busy with other things I hadn't even thought to check the local farm schedules. I must do that soon because I don't want to miss the season (if I haven't already). The berries look so yummy!
ReplyDeleteStrawberries are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMouth-watering! I'm off to look for some dessert now! Thanks for stopping by my snapshot as well.
