Saturday Snapshot ... My Culinary Bucket List

I love to cook and bake and create good food, but like everyone who cooks, there are certain dishes that have intimidated me over the years. Last year, I sat down and made a 'culinary bucket list' - a list of dishes that I really want to make before I am relegated to applesauce and prune juice ...

This past week, I conquered ... eclairs! I have to tell you. They were so good ! I'm not sure what the next item will be ... over the past year, I've crossed handmade aioli, madeleines, gnocchi, gateaux de crepes, and a lattice-topped pie off my list ... there are still so many more, though!

What's on your culinary bucket list?

  1. You are doing the Julie & Julia thing...making something and blogging about it!

    Congrats on the eclairs....I'm impressed!

  2. Nice shot with the reflection in the pan! I made cream puffs once, which have a similar process. They were yummy but I'd rather just buy them than make them. Yours look great!

  3. What is on my Culinary Bucket List?
Firstly on that list is a very strategic, James Bond-like plan to STEAL SOME OF YOUR ECLAIRS!

  4. handmade eclairs?? yummy! Makes me want to cook more too. I am pretty competent with baking, it's the actual cooking where I am lacking... Book Savvy Babe

  6. The eclairs look divine!
I've crossed off gnocchi, home-made chicken stock and pavlova from my list.
My next cooking challenge is to make something inspiring with lentils (I bought some puys lentils at the Adelaide Central Markets recently and now looking for the right recipe...any thoughts?)

    What's next for you?

    1. Ha! Funny that you mention chicken soup, as my next is matzo balls ina good chicken soup - the chicken soup I'm comfortable with, but the matzo balls are the challenge! As for your lentils, Ina Garten has a wonderful lentil and sausage stew that is truly French-inspired.

  7. I am very impressed! I'm intimidated by pastries like that as well. I don't think I have a culinary bucket list.

  8. Yum. I think I have an eating bucket list instead of a culinary bucket list. Here's Mine

    1. Haha! Paulita! It's my culinary eating list that has lead to the culinary bucket list! The stomach inspires the kitchen action!

  10. Oh, my gosh, I LOVE eclairs - one of my all-time favorite sweets! But I am currently gluten-free and dairy-free, so will have to settle for drooling over your photos! They look wonderful - congratulations!

  11. Well done on your bucket list progress. Your eclairs look great. While I like cooking, I'm more inclined to want to buy some eclairs than cook them myself.
