Haiku

Flicked like dandelions
Harsh words fall on children’s hearts
Wilting bright faces

    1. Yeah Brian. I was in the check-out line at the market and heard a man tossing off comments to his little boy that were short and sharp and hurtful and all I could do was make a cheerful comment to the father to lighten the mood and smile encouragement at the little boy and chat up the on-coming snow storm
      ... sad, indeed.

  3. This is a sad one--unexpected message from a dandelion. Lots in this short piece.

  5. Oh this is so heart wrenching, Susan - but, sadly oh-so-true. If only the father at the market could see it - it might give him pause. Beautifully penned.

  6. Oh what is it about these angry parents?! These children are the very ones who adore them so. I'm glad that you were able to help alleviate some distress. A poignant haiku for sure...
