Shopping List
lettuce
pepper
the current deli special sliced cheese -
day old bread
sweet potatoes
that wine Mike loves
Time magazine
wrapping paper
party hats
magic re-lighting joke candles !
Who hasn't crumpled the shopping list and shoved it in a pocket ? This black out poem joins other offerings for this week's Poetry Jam - head over and see what the other writers are putting to the keyboard.
Love this! Magic in your pocket ~~ always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteHow nifty! This list itself definitely tells a story and then there is the second poem in the uncrossed-out words as well. I am not familiar with this form but enjoyed reading this very much.
ReplyDeleteWonderful - What big pockets you have. :)
ReplyDeletethis is fantastic... two in one...loved both...but the little poem that came out is so sweet...
ReplyDeletehaha...i love the poem hidden in what is not crossed off...smiles.....so very cool an approach.....
ReplyDeleteA neat writing process ~ I must try it sometime, thanks ~
ReplyDeleteWhat a nifty way to create a short poem.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to use my next list for this.
Ha, this poem tells two stories. The list of things that STAY on the list tells one story; and the list of things that GO another story. Clever.

Clever, damnably clever. And the drawing superb. I know how difficult this is, so am well impressed.
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo creative, I just love it, Susan!
ReplyDeleteSusan, this is really wonderful--took me a minute to realize the poem within the list--excellent take on the prompt, and having magic in your pocket--always a good thing! (I used always find crumpled lists in my pocket--now I use a "note" app on my phone--my laundry is certainly the better for it--no little paper shreds over everything!)
ReplyDeleteI know all about those shreds of lists in the laundry! The dryer lint is sometimes so colorful - it's a wonder I haven't set the house afire!
DeleteI have shopping lists everywhere, I take the time to make them but I still forget! Love your take on the prompt.
